Park Village Opposed to Redistricting Plan; Urge Residents to Attend Meeting
Residents of Park Village in Rancho Penasquitos plan to oppose a San Diego city commission’s recommendation that splits the area away PQ and places it into a City Council District with Mira Mesa, Kearny Mesa, Miramar and part of Linda Vista.
The proposed changed is scheduled for discussion at a meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at the San Diego City Concourse, Silver Room, 202 “C” Street, Second Floor, in San Diego.
According to local residents planning to attend the session, the proposed change will group Park Village with communities for which they do not have common interests; instead, they argue the area should remain within the Rancho Penasquitos Council District — which will include Torrey Highlands , Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain , Sabre Springs and Rancho Bernardo (all along the northern I-15 corridor).
Park Village residents organizing the opposition to the proposal hope to have a minimum 100 people in attendance at the session with signs to hold up stating “ONE PQ”. They ask the PQ residents attending fill out a speaker slip when they arrive in the Silver Room to speak in opposition to the proposed separation of Park Village from Rancho Penasquitos.
