North County Gymnastics Coach Daniel Gundert Speaks at Regional Gymnastics Congress
This September, North County Gymnastics and The Gyminny Kids coach Daniel Gundert, was chosen to speak at the 2013 Region 1 Gymnastics Congress in Santa Clara, California. The Congress provides education to gymnastics coaches, judges, and business owners on the best practices to effectively and professionally develop young gymnasts. The content of each Regional Congress is based on the specific need of that area as well as covering national initiatives including the new 2013 Compulsory Competitive Program information and 2013 new rules and regulations.
Coach Daniel was asked to present two different sessions at the weekend long event. Gundert, a young rising star within the gymnastics and judging communities, used his experience to help beginner coaches find their voice and coaching style for his first session. His topic generated the highest attendance for the Congress for clinics in the Men’s Competitive category.
His second session took on the subject of starting a competitive boys team and what it takes to motivate those gymnastics. Coach Daniel started the North County Gymnastics competitive boys team in 2012 with a season that exceeded expectations and ended with boys qualifying for the California State Meet. Gundert’s current project has been starting a girls competitive program at the gym with the season kicking off this month.
Daniel Gundert is a former open optional competitive gymnast for the San Diego area. He has been coaching gymnastics for over 15 years and judging for the past two years. Gundert is a certified USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic coach and nationally rated men’s and women’s program judge with the National Gymnastics Judges Association.
