The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) recently held the annual What I Wish My Parents Knew Parenting Forum at Rancho Bernardo High School. The forum was an opportunity for learning and conversation facilitated by PUSD high school principals and local leaders in the faith community, focused on helping parents support their children through the potentially difficult teenaged years. The program began with an opening session featuring a student-designed video, then continued with a series of seven workshops, of which parents could choose two to attend. Topics ranged from Handling Academic Pressure to Building Healthy Relationships. The event steering committee is composed of Rancho Bernardo High School Principal David LeMaster, Del Norte High School Principal Greg Mizel, Westview Church Pastor Jesse Winkler, The Gathering Place Pastor John Ettore, Former Poway High School Principal Scott Fisher, Community Leader Susie Berner, Westview High School Principal Todd Cassen, and PUSD Student Services Coordinator Traci Barker-Ball.
