Lacrosse the Years

Anthony and Christine Jensen were high school sweethearts. They both played lacrosse and met through friends in their junior year at Mt. Carmel High. They married a year and a half ago and have settled into family life well. Anthony is a spine rehab specialist for Spine Zone. Christine is an instructional assistant in the Poway Unified School District. Their shared passion for lacrosse now extends to youth players. The Jensens are junior varsity coaches for girls and boys lacrosse at their alma mater, and Christine coaches also at 3d Lacrosse.

Anthony explained, “The program has become much more respected and successful. This was a very exciting year for Mt. Carmel boys lacrosse because we won the California Interscholastic Federation.” This will be Christine’s seventh season coaching lacrosse. She appreciates Head Coach Chelsea, has fun with her team, and loves the community of Mt. Carmel families. “Sometimes it is a player’s first exposure to lacrosse and I enjoy watching their love and respect for the game grow,” added Christine. As they prepare their players for the varsity level, Anthony expressed, “I enjoy helping the boys build the foundation of their skills while also having fun and building interest in the sport.”

Christine added, “I started their women’s club lacrosse program in 2010 and played until graduating.” Anthony also played lacrosse for two years in college. They graduated in 2012. Anthony obtained a B.S. in Kinesiology, and Christine, a B.A. in liberal studies.

Watching local sports teams and hanging out with their friends and families keeps them entertained. Local travel destinations include trips to the desert or hiking Black Mountain. Across the years, lacrosse has been a unifying element. The Jensens are on the field – coaching the game they love and inspiring others.
