The Rancho Penasquitos Pop Warner (RPPW) cheer team, the Marauders, recently made it to the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships for the second consecutive year. To qualify, the Marauders performed exceptionally well both locally and regionally throughout the season. The championship competition, which took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL, hosted only seven qualifying teams.

“This was significant to us because we wanted to do something that was not expected of our team: make it to nationals two years in a row,” said RPPW Head Coach Vickie Lofton. “We started this season off with a fairly new team and coaching staff this year. We knew that it would take hard work and dedication of all involved to qualify at the local and regional level.” The team consisted of 16 girls total, with six returning from the previous season and 10 newcomers.
