Councilmember Chris Cate recently attended a Cub Scout Pack 621 meeting at Canyon View Elementary School in order to help fourth grade Webelos and fifth grade Arrow of Light Scouts fulfill their Building a Better World Adventure requirements. The Building a Better World Adventure teaches Scouts about citizenship, including the rights and duties of citizens and the term “rule of law,” and also requires them to meet with a government leader and learn about his or her role in the community.

Councilmember Cate discussed with Pack 621, along with five other local Cub Scout packs, what it means to be a good citizen, the importance of voting, what it means to be loyal to our country, as well as the drought in California and San Diego’s water conservation efforts. Cub Scout Pack 621 is a member of the Rancho Mesa District of the San Diego-Imperial Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Learn more at www.ranchomesa.sdicbsa.org.
