The California Department of Education recently released new evaluation rubrics and the California School Dashboard as a way to measure student performance and give a more comprehensive look at overall district and school performance. The rubrics, which will be rolled out gradually, analyze 10 indicators of student performance: graduation rates; English language arts and math; parent engagement; school climate; progress of English learners; college and career readiness; implementation of state standards; services, materials, and facilities; chronic absenteeism; and suspension rates.

Poway Unified School District (PUSD) scored at the highest possible levels in several areas, including graduation rates and student performance in English language arts and math for third through eighth grade. PUSD also met the state target in reducing the number of students suspended during the year and in measuring how well English language learners are progressing. Full Dashboard results will be reported this fall. Learn more at www.caschooldashboard.org.
