Sunset Hills Employees Receive District Honors

The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) has named Sunset Hills Elementary School Administrative Assistant Bridgette Padilla and Finance Department Budget Analyst Linda Farmer as the 2017 PUSD Classified Employees of the Year. A committee of district and site representatives selected the two Classified Employees of the Year based on work performance, contributions to the district, and community service. PUSD nominated Bridgette for the San Diego County Office of Education’s Classified Employee Recognition Program, which honors members of the classified service for all of San Diego County.

Bridgette believes in universal achievement for all students and encourages everyone to adopt the “no excuses” philosophy. She serves as a role model for the staff, doing whatever it takes to ensure that everyone has access to the tools needed to make a difference in a child’s life. She keeps her cell phone on at all times, for example, to help teachers find substitutes in an emergency. She was selected to be on a district-wide team to look at the administrative assistant role at the elementary level, and represents the classified staff on the Sunset Hills Foundation. She is also often found perpetuating a positive school culture by encouraging students who show good character.

Linda is always willing to assist coworkers, schools, and departments who have budget questions. She was at the forefront of the PeopleSoft software implementation, and was instrumental in developing a training package as well as conducting a district introduction training for sites and non-finance personnel. Linda is also committed to giving back to the community through her involvement in numerous organizations including the Poway School Employees Association, the Escondido Humane Society, and East County’s Lions, Tigers, and Bears.
