Westview High School’s Gold band, orchestra, and color guard are under new direction this year for the first time in the history of the school. Mitchell Way will serve as director and Martin Fierro will serve as associate director. Mitchell previously taught band and orchestra at Grossmont High School for one year and served as director of instrumental music at Helix Charter High School for five years. Martin completed his student teaching at Mt. Carmel High School and previously served as assistant director of instrumental music at Point Loma High School. “I am truly excited and humbled to be the new Instrumental Music Director at Westview,” Mitchell said. “The program Jeri Webb created over the last 14 years is so unique and exudes such excellence, and I am grateful to be at the helm now.”
