Local elementary, middle, and high school students are invited to submit essays on the topic “PQ Youth Volunteers” for the annual Growing Up PQ Essay Contest, presented by the Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council (RPTC), in partnership with 92129 Magazine. Essays should describe one specific volunteer experience in PQ, what it means to you, and how it makes PQ a better place to call home.

The three winning essays (one from each grade level) will be printed in 92129 Magazine’s Feb/Mar issue and on the RPTC website. The three winning authors will also receive cash prizes: elementary – $25; middle – $50; and high school – $100. Winners will be announced at the RPTC meeting in January. Essay length should be 100 to 500 words, and all entries must include the author’s name, grade level, school, and email address. The deadline to submit an essay is Friday, Dec. 15. Submit entries and questions to web.print.rptc@gmail.com.
