92129 resident Nina Shantel recently released her second book, Slimming Dairy-Free Desserts & Smoothies. The dessert cookbook features dairy-free, gluten-free, and many vegan recipes. Treats in the book include things like fudge, pudding, chocolate candy, cookies, muffins, and smoothies, and are made with healthier ingredients such as quinoa, chia seeds, and sweet potatoes. Many of Nina’s recipes were born from her own unique health challenges. “I had a bunch of my recipes in a folder so I decided to make a cookbook with just desserts for people who have allergies or food restrictions,” she said. “My goal is to let people know that desserts can be healthy and delicious without sugar, flour, butter, and dairy.”
