Adobe Bluffs Elementary School recently received the Confucius Classroom of the Year award, presented at the 13th Annual Confucius Institute Global Conference in Chengdu, China. Principal Edward Park and a small group of educators and students traveled to accept the award.

“I consider this award a prestigious honor,” said Park. “To be recognized internationally for our efforts to create world-class learners and global citizens right here in Poway Unified, and to be the only elementary school in the world to be recognized by the Confucius Institute is a reflection on our amazing staff and students.”

Adobe Bluffs earned the award for the quality and scales of its teaching and cultural programs. The school’s Dual Language Immersion Program consists of bilingual academic instruction for a classroom with equal numbers of native English-speaking and Mandarin-speaking students. The Foreign Language in Elementary School program gives all students at the school twice-weekly Mandarin language and Chinese culture lessons.
