Rancho Peñasquitos resident Detective Susan Righthouse was recently recognized at the 9th Annual Women in Blue luncheon, along with fellow honoree Margaret Mendez. The event, held by the San Diego Police Foundation, was first established in 2010 to celebrate female leadership in law enforcement. This year’s theme was Courage Knows No Gender. “It greatly benefits our community when women pursue a career in law enforcement, and I hope this trend will continue in San Diego,” said San Diego Chief of Police David Nisleit.“Congratulations to Detective Righthouse for her unwavering leadership, dedication, and service in protecting our communities, and to Ms. Mendez for her leadership and commitment to all of the employees of the San Diego Police Department.”

Detective Righthouse has served in the San Diego Police Department for 29 years, and on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for 13 years. She has investigated more than 400 child abuse-related cases and is the recipient of the Exceptional Performance Citation and Commanding Officer’s Citation.
