This year’s Fiesta weekend was a huge success, held May 4 and 5 here on the Rancho. Saturday morning, more than 1,200 runners and walkers with kids, strollers, and dogs came out to participate in the 11th Annual PQ5K Fun Run and Pancake Breakfast organized by Ken and Trish Wolsey of PQ. In lieu of fees, donations were collected to support the community service project Snacks for Students In Need.

All the participants were served a hot pancake breakfast by the all-volunteer crew brought together by organizers Ken and Trish, with San Diego City Councilman, D-5, Mark Kersey.

The 4th Annual Fiesta Parade began at Sun Devil Way with Mrs. California International 2019 as this year’s announcer. A longtime local resident of Rancho Peñasquitos, Jocelyn Lomahan is a very active mother of two teens, a wife, and real estate agent, and a new member of the RP Town Council.

This year’s grand marshal was riding high on a beautiful convertible compliments of the San Diego Air Cooled Car Club: our very own Mt. Carmel High School science teacher and wrestling coach, Gail Miller. He really got the energy moving with the spectators, waving and cheering to the crowds along Carmel Mountain Rd. and Paseo Montalban to inspire all of us to remember his message of unity for all of PQ. This year’s Fiesta theme was There’s No Place Like PQ!
