Rancho Peñasquitos resident Bouavanh Rasih was recently named the inaugural recipient of the Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC) Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of work supporting his community. Rasih is co-founder and president of the Rasih Citizenship Education Institute, and he has more than 34 years of experience in citizenship, voter registration, public safety, public relations, and interpretation services. He has helped nearly 1,776 refugees and new immigrants become U.S. citizens.

Rasih’s previous awards include the Asian Heritage Award 2006 for Art, Literature, and Philosophy, the International Society of Poets Editor’s Choice Award in 2005 and 2006, and recognition on the Immigrant Wall of Honor by the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation.
