What’s New in PQ?

Fall has arrived on the Rancho, and many of us are preparing for the annual Oktoberfest, Halloween celebrations, and Thanksgiving trips. The Town Council is busy working on the selections of craft beer to present at our 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Craft Beer Garden/Fundraiser benefiting the July 2020 Fireworks show. We are enjoying the ever so slight coolness in the air and the opportunities to come together during the fall season.

We have a great lineup of guest speakers for October and November in step with the community interest in safe evacuation plans for a few of our neighborhoods with limited road access and how to navigate the insurance needs should you have to file a claim. Did you know your driveway may not be covered under your current homeowners insurance plan?

Community Events, Grants, & Sponsorships: The 25th Anniversary Fiesta Committee will hold its next meeting Oct. 15 at Fresco’s, 7 p.m. Everyone loves the annual Fiesta, but did you know it’s put on by volunteers? Everyone in PQ is welcome to attend and contribute to this year’s Silver Anniversary event.

Contests: Currently, students in grades K-12 reflect on “Growing up PQ.” This essay contest is in full partnership with 92129 Magazine! This year’s deadline is Nov. 15, so read more in this issue!

Volunteer Awards: We love to recognize the community service of our residents during the Fiesta de los Peñasquitos in May. These annual awards honor one adult, one business, and a student from each of our public schools for their community service efforts in PQ.

These programs are funded through donations by residents, businesses, and community partners, and the Annual Fiesta de los Peñasquitos. Attend a meeting or visit our website to learn more!
